Here’s a little bit about me — past, present, future:

As long as I can remember, I’ve loved art. It was a constant in my life, the only thing I was sort of good at and so I majored in it in college. The summer after my freshman year I had a major creative burst before transferring to a new college. My new program was not a good fit for me but at the time I thought the issue was me. All my confidence burst, I was filled with self doubt and in a cycle of revision. I wound up dropping out of the art program and majoring in Art History.

Between then and now and the years that past, I tried to reclaim my love of making art. It never flowed easily like it did when I was young up until that summer between freshman and sophomore year. I struggled, I fought, and more often than not I lost.Spring of 2007, I picked up some paper and a knife, inspired by some children book illustrations by a talented illustrator named Amy Walrod and everything changed. Working with such a permanent medium, cutting paper, forced me to make decisions and commit with every cut. It was difficult to revise. I made and moved on. If something was great, well then, great! If it wasn’t, I learned from it and moved on.

It’s been like that since. I found the same creative energy I had that college summer and all the barriers are coming down. I can’t wait to work and I love making art again. That is what this blog and my store hopefully reflect.
