I’ve been on a quest for the perfect parka. It should be warm, affordable, and flattering. Stylish would help too but that seems to contradict the other requirements.

I almost ordered this one from Neiman Marcus last week when they were having a 20% off sale. It was still out of my budget and I waited too long to pull the trigger and they ran out of my size. In retrospect, I think it’s a good thing. I don’t think it would keep me toasty if they don’t disclose what kind of fill it is.

I almost ordered this one from Moosejaw last night. They are currently having a 20% off sale (coupon code 200.) I like the streamlined factor, looks flattering. It’s 550 fill which would be warm, but warm enough to wait outside for the schoolbus? The price is higher than I’d like to pay, but within reach. Having second thoughts this morning as to why I didn’t buy it…

Initally I really liked this one from Moosejaw and the more I looked at it, the less appealing it became.

Lands End’s Flattering Parka just didn’t seem all that flattering. But it would be very warm at 650 fill and the price can’t be beat. Currently on sale for $87.

For supreme warmth, this Eddie Bauer jacket can’t be beat with 800 fill and a reasonable price. But I really wanted something a little longer. Cute though, right?

I wound up ordering this from Eddie Bauer in chocolate brown. It’s not my favorite, but it’s definitely warm enough at 700 fill, looks okay, and the price was great. Got a 15% off code + free shipping from Retail Me Not. Should I be second guessing my decision at get that Northface parka from Moosejaw. Chime in! I can be persuaded!
